For centuries, humanity ignored the warnings. They allowed greed to rule and poor stewardship to blight the earth. Then, the geomagnetic poles shifted. Continents vanished, civilizations imploded, and the survivors were left in a world where time is measured in Salions and survival is measured in cold steel.

Sagus "Sage" Mariner, a legendary general who traded his sword for a blacksmith's forge, is pulled back into the fray when the Holy Order of the Phoenix calls. As a Guardian, Sage possesses a rare healing light and an uncommon strength-gifts he will need as he rallies a broken army of Raiders to defend the kingdom of Europia.

The threat is more than just an invading army of three million. The puppet-king Vernon and the dark wizard Cigam Krad seek the seven Shards of Natas and an ancient amulet capable of unleashing the beasts of the Underworld. If they succeed, a darkness will envelop the Earth that no mortal can withstand.
