The Saints Who Saved Me

This memoir invites you on a journey through the recovery process from childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and family dysfunction, all while weaving together Christian faith and psychological insights. I titled it "The Saints Who Saved Me" because I've had so many impactful encounters-both with canonized figures and everyday heroes-that have shaped my life. I also considered calling it "Facing the Giants," as it delves into how family dynamics, early challenges, and parental influences mold who we are. It emphasizes the significance of mindfulness, self-compassion, and the powerful connection between spirituality and psychology in the healing journey.

I've made the conscious choice not to see myself as a victim. I explore both secular and Christian views on letting go, forgiveness, and acceptance. Throughout my healing journey, I've gained insights into the ongoing nature of forgiveness, the struggle to release guilt associated with abuse, and the crucial role of self-forgiveness as a foundation for healing. I blend biblical teachings and mindfulness practices as tools for personal growth.

Inspired by Jeremiah 29:11 and the belief that "God is Bigger," I believe healing goes beyond just achieving material success. It's about confronting those emotional hurdles we all face. My story is about personal growth, navigating PTSD, and the incredible influence of supportive people in our lives. I also touch on the battle with the seven deadly sins and the essential role of divine grace in overcoming life's challenges. So come along with me on this transformative journey.
