The Traveller

"Heartfelt, moving, and thought-provoking... examines the intersections of personal growth, family bonds, and societal responsibilities." -Publishers Weekly BookLife Review

"Betancourt doesn't offer easy resolutions, but she does something rarer: she renders the messy, uneven work of healing with unflinching tenderness." -Gabriella Harrison for IndieReader

Sonia has always been a traveller-but only in her mind. While she spends her days working at a hospital and her weekends caring for children at a developmental center, she remains emotionally adrift, estranged from her husband, daughter, and family.

When COVID-19 sweeps across the world, Sonia finds herself at the heart of the crisis, tending to the sick and witnessing loss on an unimaginable scale. The weight of it all forces her to confront the choices that led her here. But just as she begins to find solace in her work, her past comes calling. Her husband has found her and wants her to come home.

Now, Sonia must decide where she truly belongs-with the family she left behind or the vulnerable children who have become her new purpose. In a world turned upside down, how do you choose between the life you built and the one you abandoned?

The Traveller is a poignant and powerful story about love, loss, and the search for meaning in a time of crisis. Will Sonia find her way home, or will she discover that some journeys can only move forward?
