Jonah runs from his calling and then resents mercy when it reaches someone else. Jeremiah discovers the loneliness of fidelity. Isaiah's suffering Servant opens the story toward Christ.

The Voice in the Whirlwind is a Catholic exploration of suffering, prayer, and fidelity when God's purposes remain difficult to understand.

Instead, it asks how a believer can remain before God when explanation is incomplete.
