"Through Another Lens" helps readers see prayers and reflections on the Sunday Gospels for liturgical Cycle C through the unique prism of spiritual poetry. Utilizing an innovative way to view sacred Scripture, "Through Another Lens" draws from classic poems by Denise Levertov, Thomas Merton, John Donne, and others, to illuminate and deepen an understanding of God's word as we reflect on each of the Sunday Gospels. A time honored spiritual practice, reading sacred poetry enables us to set aside our mundane concerns while we look at the Gospels with new eyes. When we read a poem we do not simply read words; we enter a sacred space. Many times this awareness, as well as the words themselves, leads us into prayer and meditation. The experience of using a different lens to pray with each Sunday Gospel challenges the reader to enter each Gospel passage in a new way, leading us to a new, deeper, and richer communion with God's message.
