Vaccines and Autoimmunity

In 2011 the editors crystallized and published a new syndrome called ASIA (Autoimmune Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants) in which an adjuvant, and specifically aluminum in different vaccines can induce in genetically prone subjects diverse autoimmune clinical manifestations. These clinical autoimmune findings can eventually evolve into a full characterized autoimmune disease. These findings, as well as all the literature published so far on the vaccine-autoimmunity relationship, are summarized in this timely book. The book will be divided into 3 sections.Section AGeneral information on the "mosaic of autoimmunity" and where adjuvants are involved in the framework of the mosaic, the mechanism of action of adjuvants, experimental models of adjuvant induced autoimmune diseases, infections as adjuvants, the Gulf War Syndrome, sick-building syndrome (SBS), safe vaccines, toll-like receptors, TLRS in vaccines, pesticides as adjuvants, oil as adjuvant, mercury, aluminum and autoimmunity.Section BReview of all the literature "via" search engines like Pub Med on all the vaccines which have been found to induce autoimmune conditions, for instance all the autoimmune syndromes that were induced by MMR or HBV, etc.Section CThe third section will be on autoimmune diseases in which vaccines were known to be the solicitor, for instance SLE - can it be induced by MMR, HBV, HCV, influenza vaccines, etc.The book will be well referenced and will be a source for future pathogenetic as well as epidemiological studies.
