In his second collection of hunting adventures, Greig Caigou unpacks the classic and memorable elements of New Zealand hunts, blending his own inspiring stories with those of other keen hunters. These adventures span both gender and a range of ages and capture the essence of special regions and memorable hunts throughout New Zealand. Wild Fiordland, the intimidating landscape of South Westland, the stark Canterbury Alps and the beautiful high basins at the top of the South Island all have hunting stories to share. From the shooting of a first deer to the campaigns of seasoned hunters with a lifetime of stories, the bedrock themes remain - the preservation of wilderness values and hunter ethics. These shared adventures all make up the legacy of hunting left by those whose footprints have gone before. Greig also addresses some of the challenges on the horizon for the continuation of authentic, fair-chase hunting that can be freely accessed and enjoyed in New Zealand. Greig's first book, HUNTING ADVENTURES, shared the experience of an ordinary New Zealand hunter who gets out into the backcountry whenever he can. In this second volume, he still aims to get beyond the road end and into more wild horizons. Greig works in the outdoor industry and lives with his wife, Marijke, in Nelson, on the doorstep of the South Island backcountry.
