Zafer Senocak is an important German literary voice from the over two-million-strong Turkish community in Germany. He is primarily a poet, short story writer, novelist and librettist (as well as translator/editor of classical and contemporary Turkish literature in German). His essays explore taboo and repressed aspects of relations between Occident and Orient, Europe and Islam. This text follows the pattern of the other volumes in the Contemporary German Writers series. It opens with previously unpublished material by Senocak, and includes a biographical essay and interview, as well as essays addressing all aspects of his work.
