Shoes takes you on an enthralling tour of sixty of the most iconic shoe styles thorough the years, showcasing a wide range of the most revered designers and their most sought after creations - from Maud Frison's hot-pink cone heels and Manolo Blahnik's Camparis to bejewelled sandals by Gina and patchwork python platforms by Terry de Haviland. Discover the origins, social significance, and breakthrough moments of each of the to-die-for shoes, as well as the reasons for their popularity, fall from grace, and, where relevant, subsequent revival. The incisive, illuminating text is accompanied throughout by evocative period photographs of style icons wearing the shoes in question, as well as original sketches by the designers themselves. Shoes is both an inspirational guide to the history of stylish shoes and a unique catalogue of cutting-edge shoe design, proving that shoes are not only a key component of fashion but also an art form in their own right. Open the pages and enter shoe heaven.
