The cross-country Didcot, Newbury and Southampton line continues to be a favourite among enthusiasts in the south. In what author Kevin Robertson promises to be his final work on the line, this new book concludes the history of the railway by telling the story of the last years from 1948 through to 1966. This period has been largely neglected by other works covering the railway's history, yet it also covers the years that most enthusiasts are interested in and require more detailed coverage. Using numerous new and stunning images in both colour and black and white, most of which have never been published before, the railway is brought to life from its peak in 1948 through a decade of decline in the 1950s and on to the subsequent destruction and abandonment that followed.
