Opis

This is a collection of first Constitutions and includes a copy of the 1776 Constitution for the state of Connecticut which was miss-placed after its first printing in 1785. Until now it has been assumed that the Fundamental Orders of 1638-39 is considered that states first Constitution, but disputes that this charter was in effect until 1818 when an American style Constitution was adopted. The author has also included chapters on the Sons of Liberty, the battles of Brooklyn and New York, The drafting of the Declaration and of the Articles of Confederation.
