Day and night had no real meaning in Los Angeles. Where last night ended and today began was anyone's guess. Every week you looked up and there was another blonde with a gun on the billboard - another pair of green eyes staring into space. Another night meant another club opening. Another gristly murder. Another love story. Welcome to Los Angeles, as seen through Anna's eyes. Anna has had an excruciating year, topped off with new stepparents, new babies, and a new school. At the end of her rope, Anna 'borrows' her stepmother's credit card and hightails it to LA to crash with her older half-sister. But in addition to not being wanted back by her parents, at least not immediately, Anna has to work to pay off the airline ticket she charged - and figure out how to get home on her own. Her sister's creepy ex-boyfriend is directing an indie film inspired by girls who come to LA and disappear, literally or metaphorically, and hires Anna to research the murderous Manson girls. And she spends most of her time on the set of a kids' television show starring seventeen-year-olds pretending to be twelve-year-olds ...where she starts to, maybe, fall for one of the lead actors. Absolutely nothing about this summer turns out how Anna expected.
