Ronny Jaques, a contemporary of Richard Avedon, Lillian Bassman and Horst, expertly captured the 1950s haute couture scene, with portraits of gracefully elegant women dressed in their finest Diors, Balenciagas and Lanvins. But more than that Jaques, who passed away this summer at age 98, was a talent who was always in the right place at the right time - he and his camera moved easily from high society to travel and from fashion to serious photojournalism.
