Excerpt from An Apologetical Relation of the Particular Sufferings of the Faithful Ministers and Professors of the Church of Scotland, Since August 1660: Wherein Several Questions, Useful for the Time, Are Discussed; The King's Prerogative Over Parliaments and People Soberly Inquired Into; The Lawfulness of Defensive War Cleared; The Supreme Magistrate's Power in Church Matters Examined A considerable number of his practical works were translated into Dutch by the hand of his much-esteemed friend, Mn Janna koolman, minister of the gospel at Sluis, in Flanders; and, through the medium of these translations, they were advantageously known to the inhabitants of Holland. His large ms. History of the Church still remains in the College Library at Edinburgh; and there are sup posed to be still other mss. Of Mr Brown's in this country; but we cannot asoer tain into whose bands they have come. If the publishers of this work could obtain any information relating to them, means might be found to bring them before the public.
