The Boulevard Boys by Michael Gilderdale is a well-told page turning tale set in the mid-18th century when George the Third came to England's throne. London, the wealthiest and dirtiest city in the world, is seen through the eyes of a popular Band and of a nobleman farming a nearby estate. In Westminster, as Whigs and Tories fight for political supremacy the streets of the city blossom with music and entertainment of every kind despite widespread violence, crime and disease. When own and country meet a passionate affair between two families also blossoms and threatens to destroy them both.
