This is an introductory book on the subject of classical electromagnetic field theory but simultaneously carries the reader to a level from where he would be able to read more advanced textbooks on the subjects like Jackson's Electrodynamics. The material for this book arose out of a one-semester course on electromagnetic theory, which the author delivered to fourth semester undergraduate students of electronics and communication engineering. The author's chief research interests have been on problems related to the formulation of boundary value problems in electromagnetics in terms of partial differential equations and their solution by numerical methods. The style in which the book has been written, i.e. laying more emphasis on physical principles rather than on engineering applications, sets it apart from most of the engineering textbooks on the subject.
