Die österreichische Konzeptkünstlerin Eva Chytilek stellt mit ihren Zeichnungen, Skulpturen, Installationen und Fotografien die alten, schwierigen Fragen: wo ist die Schwelle zwischen Nicht-Kunst und Kunst; welche Möglichkeiten sind verfügbar, diese Schwellen und Übergänge zu zeigen, zu verschieben und bewusst zu halten; lässt sich das Verhältnis von Objekt und Raum, Objekt und Kontext sichtbar machen? Eva Chytilek arbeitet mit simplen, oft recycelten Materialien, verdichtet sie zu einfachen, rätselhaften Objekten, baut flüchtige Ensembles an Orten, die kaum zu lokalisieren sind, und verwendet unterschiedliche Medien neben- und nacheinander, um Realitäts- und Repräsentationsebenen demonstrativ zu verschränken und aufzufächern. Das von Eva Chytilek konzipierte Buch ist ein sorgfältig gestalteter Traktat, der im Paradigma ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit diese - seit Arte Povera, Konzeptkunst und Minimal Art immer wieder gestellten - Fragen neu und mit leichter Hand, nachvollziehbar und für den Betrachter mit Erkenntnisgewinn vorträgt. With her drawings, sculptures, photographs and installations the Austrian concept artist Eva Chytilek poses the well known and difficult questions: where can the edge between art and non-art be found; which possibilities are available to show, shift between and be aware of these thresholds and transitions; is it possible to visualize the relation between object and space or object and context? Eva Chytilek works with elementary, often recycled materials and converts them to simple but cryptic objects. She builds ephemeral ensembles into a space that is not easy to locate and uses different media to cross the levels of reality and representation. Eva Chytilek composed a diligently designed book that exemplifies her work in a comprehensible way and carries out these questions that have been posed many a time in the context of arte povera, concept art and minimal art.
