This book is part of a series on historical female figures. It features the American suffragist, Frances Elizabeth Willard (1839-1898). After a short career in education, she embarked on a lifelong struggle for women's suffrage as well as helping to found the Woman's Christian Temperance Movement which campaigned in favour of prohibition. Eschewing marriage for a series of relationships with other women, she was a revolutionary character of the age.
