Book synopsis

Tony Beatty was born in Ireland in 1935. He left school at thirteen to work in his local post office. By the 1950s, a lack of jobs drove him to England where he became a successful accountant and gifted sportsman. He recognized a need for communication within the international Irish community. In 1970 the Irish Post was launched. The newspaper's annual competition for "Irish Personality of the Year" and later "Sportsman of the Year" meant that Beatty encountered the leading Irishmen of his day. He raised money for charities through golf classics, even after multiple sclerosis kept him from his favorite game.
