Jim Wells, a poor, God loving, Alabama farm boy dreamed of being a pilot. He rose successfully from transmission repair technician, to business owner, to instrument rated commercial pilot with more than 10,000 hours as a charter and air ambulance pilot doing things in airplanes that no one had ever done before. His memoir chronicles his experiences as a baseball player with the University of Akron, Ohio, and as coach and player of baseball and basketball in West Virginia and Alabama. He tells of flying as a charter pilot in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, and as a crop-duster in Texas. Wells was a flight instructor and was airport manager in many of these locations, including Gulf Shores, Alabama, Colorodo River Indian Reservation in Arizona, and Freemont County and Salina in Colorado. The author, now 84, lives with his wife in Fife, Alabama.
