Sie ist der sprichwörtliche Fels in der Brandung: die deutsche Hochseeinsel Helgoland. Hier riecht es nach Algen und Tang, nach Wasser, Wind und Salz. Man vernimmt das Tosen der See, hört das Kreischen der Möwen und lauscht der Brandung, die auf den Strand schlägt. Die Insel war Seefestung, Piratennest und Marinestützpunkt. Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben schrieb hier 1841 das "Lied der Deutschen" und noch heute spürt man die besondere Magie dieses von der Nordsee umtosten Ortes im Herzen der Deutschen Bucht.
