Book synopsis

Excerpt from Jubilee Synod of the United Presbyterian Church The Celebration of the Jubilee of the United Presbyterian Church, by the Synod of 1897, was a memorable occasion in which the whole Church showed profound interest. An attendance of 553 ministers, 11 missionaries, and 513 elders, or 1077 members, testified to the fact that it was not in vain 'that the Jubilee trumpet had sounded throughout all the land.' Nor was the interest manifested in the increase of Members of Synod only. Alike at the opening service, and all through the Jubilee-tide, the meetings were thronged by those who had been drawn thither by constraint of their loyalty to the Church, and also by ministers and members of other Churches. Had the spacious Synod Hall been double its size, it would have been inadequate to meet the demands for admission.
