Book synopsis

Miharu has returned safely from his kidnapping adventure, but refuses to tell anyone what happened. Just as Kumohira-sensei is wishing he could read Miharu's mind, Yae Oda, Chief of Togakushi Village and mind reader, comes to them all with a proposition. If they help her assassinate a weapons developer, she will give them the Togakushi forbidden art scroll. If they refuse, she'll reveal all their deep, dark secrets to everyone. Kumohira-sensei agrees, and they infiltrate a science symposium (minus Raimei, who is following a lead as to the whereabouts of her brother). As it so happens, their target, Eugene Frosty, has hired bodyguards from the Iga Grey Wolves, and Yoite is one of them. When Kumohira tries to kill Frosty, Yoite shows up, and Frosty gets away. He runs to the parking lot where Yae is waiting for him, but she is less interested in Frosty than in his assistant, Nowake, a man who was the only one who could have saved her daughter but let the girl die.
