Oundle School in Northamptonshire was founded as a grammar school in 1556 by Sir William Laxton, Lord Mayor of London, who was born in Oundle. Today the one thousand or so pupils live in eight boys' and five girls' houses. "Oundle: A School for All Seasons" charts the School terms (known as 'Quarters') today and at various points throughout the last century, through a thrilling visual narrative. Julian Andrews' insightful and stunning photography captures the excitement of the new pupil's first day to the climax of Speech Day, and all the emotions in-between. The photographs are drawn together by quotations, short recollections and diary extracts from pupils and staff, past and present, providing a feast of views and nostalgia for every Oundelian to enjoy. From starched napkins to communal toasters, male only to co-ed, workshops to the state-of-the-art SciTec building, there are many differences. However, the seventeenth century golden stone buildings, winding streets and verdant grounds of Oundle provide common setting to the school year across the generations.
