Book synopsis

Excerpt from Poems and Sonnets The Poems and Sonnets reprinted in the following pages are given verbatim from the first volume of Professor Dowden's Life of Shelley, published in London, England, by Messrs. Kegan Paul, Trench, and Co., in November last. They appear to have been written by Shelley at intervals during the years 1810 - 1814, and in all probability many of them were intended by him to be included in one volume with Queen Mab. Whilst staying in Dublin, Ireland, he had placed in the hands of a printer of that city named Stockdale (not to be confounded with John Stockdale, Junior, of Pall Mall, London, the publisher of St. Irvyne and Original Poetry by Victor and Cazire) a manuscript volume of verse, and this manuscript volume, after his arrival in England, he made several attempts to recover - attempts which apparently proved ineffectual to secure its restoration.
