Excerpt from Strange Tales From Humble Life These Narratives are true; they come from my own experience and observation, and were first written for tho humbler classes, amongst whom Eighty Thousand Volumes and more than Three Millions of Tracts, or portions of the Narratives, arc already in circulation. Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen has been presented with my books at her own request. Lord Shaftesbury asked me how soon the Second Volume would be out, for he was anxious to have one.
