The photos you find in SD show a variety in image and color which few other countries can offer. This is remarkable, for they are, after all, of a country that, in comparison with most South American countries, is very modest in size. And equally modest in the population of around 500,000 inhabitants. The question is: to what does Suriname owe its remarkably rich and varied appearance. In our present-day world, multicultural societies are a relatively new phenomenon. Suriname, however, formed a multicultural society before the term had been invented.
