In this work, the modeling of vibrating liquid sensors which are suitable to measure mass density and shear viscosity is presented. The considered sensor types comprise flexural vibrating diaphragm cell sensors and piezoelectric disc sensors using lateral field excitation. For both types, semi-numerical models are presented, which are based on temporal and spatial Fourier transforms of the governing partial differential equations. Compared to the original problems, the complexity of the thus formulated models is reduced considerably. With these models the frequency responses of the sensors are determined and the fluid parameters are related to the resonant parameters. In addition to the modeling of these two sensors the concept of acoustic impedance matrices is discussed. These matrices represent generalized acoustic transmission line models for wave propagation in multilayered elastic and electroacoustic structures.
