Excerpt from The Open Court, Vol. 42: January, 1928 The legends showing walking on the water by means of an Act of Truth are not found in texts of any great antiquity, although one of them seems to be related to another legend of walking on the water that is of great age. It is, of course, pertinent to remark that the legends are older than the texts in which they appear, for time must have been required for them to gain recognition as authentic; but since we cannot say how much time must have been required, the remark is after all not of any large value.
