Where can you hide when you've been classified as an "Unreliable Object"? Severin Tsur-Zeilingold was 17 when, as the Nazis conquered Poland, he escaped to Russia. But when he tried to go "home" he was branded an "Unreliable Object" and sent to a Russian Labor Camp. Severin was stuffed into a small train car with 20 others until they reached their destination in the dead of the freezing Russian winter. Hundreds were waiting at the train station where the order was given to march 24 miles to a Soviet Concentration Camp. Many did not survive and those that did were frost-bitten and exhausted. Only his wits and his brawn kept him alive. Severin lived in Poland After the War and was plagued by the anti-Semitism of his native country, which prevented from emigrating to Israel. Severin and his wife, Tsila, arrived in Israel in 1950, where they live today with their children and grandchildren, and where Severin's "real" life continues.
