From the beginning, humans and nature have been living in a relationship full of suspense: characterized by the achievements of cultural evolution, the long conquest of nature coupled with a growing passion for untouched landscapes and the last remaining spots of wilderness. In 'Safari Spirit', Daniel Kufner is looking for tracks and traces at the intersection between these two poles of approach and delimination. From an artist's perspective, he analyses the close bond between humans and cattle - probably our most important livestock - by finding unusual points of view and creating a new context for the relationship. In the second part of this work, impressions of a journey to and in Africa form the centre of his research: the construction of fences has deeply changed the relationship between humans and nature in Botswana. Inspired by his own creative perception, Kufner has developed innovative visions for a coexistence of civilisation and wilderness by integrating ecology and conservation.
