This book describes the applications of the quantification of the plasma apo AI and B proteins for the identification and follow-up of patients at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. It begins with a few general papers about the biochemistry and pathophysiology of apolipoproteins, their methods and measurements. A literature review of the clinical studies where apoprotein measurements were performed for the evaluation of cardiovascular risk is further included. There follow more technical papers describing the use of immunoprecipitation methods and their application to the quantification of apo AI and B. The interpretation of these measurements by clinical chemists and their interpretation in combination with classical lipid parameters is analysed at the end of the book.
